Treat Yourself On A Budget

Making an effort to be frugal with your money is an excellent lifestyle choice. However, it's important to take the opportunity to treat yourself every now and then. Here are four ways you can make the most of your money while still giving yourself something nice:

1. Plan your splurges.

If you're prone to overspending, plan your splurges in advance. This can actually help you enjoy and appreciate the experience more, without having to worry about lingering guilt nagging at you. Setting aside a chunk of money to spend on a spa day can be much more enjoyable than unintentionally buying lots of little items here and there.

2. Treat yourself to an experience.

Many people find that they enjoy experiences much more than new gadgets or toys. Buying something expensive and new can provide you with a rush initially, but over time that item will lose its appeal. It may gather dust or even break, and you'll have to find a place to store it in your house. Instead of purchasing material goods, treat yourself to an experience.

If you're a beauty enthusiast, spend the day at a spa. A massage can help to relax you and loosen tight, sore muscles. You can also take advantage of spa facials to moisturize and rejuvenate your face. If you're not sure what kind of facial you'd like, describe your skin type to your esthetician and let them recommend one to you.

3. Take yourself out to dinner.

Some people feel uncomfortable going into a restaurant alone, but it can actually be a great experience. Dress up in clothes that make you feel great, and go to a restaurant you've always wanted to try. When you go alone, you don't have to compromise your taste for someone else. Spend the evening lingering over your meal and even people-watching, if you so desire.

4. Have a quiet night in.

Sometimes when you're feeling run down and tired, what you really need is a night to yourself. Not all splurges need to take place outside of your house. If you're in need of some rest and relaxation, go ahead and purchase everything you need to pamper yourself at home. Bubble bath, Epsom salt, and essential oils can transform an ordinary bath into something extraordinary. Light some candles, play soothing music, and grab a book, and you're all set to spend the evening practicing self-care.
